Saturday Night: Speech! Speech!
A banquet, of course, is traditionally followed by a bunch of boring
speakers. This wasn't no banquet!
 |
The Pacific Crest Trail
Association was represented by programs director Joe Sobinovsky,
board members Henry Shires and Eric Weinmann, and executive director Liz
Bergeron. |
PCTA Vice President Eric Weinmann made a belated presentation of Awards of Merit to
Greg Hummel and Bob Riess. (They weren't around when the awards were
handed out at the PCTA annual meeting in February.) Here's the writeup
from the PCT Communicator: "For the past three years, Bob
Riess and Greg Hummel have single-handedly promoted and instituted the
Annual Day Zero Pacific Crest Trail Kick-Off Party.... It has become a
real event with last year's party seeing over 100 people in attendance.
The entire event is done by volunteers with no help from the PCTA." |
AGPLDHG&IR honcho Jason Cramer announced the winners of the gear
contest. |
Meadow Ed had the rapt attention of 2002 hikers as he described the
locations and conditions of water caches throughout southern California. |
